Power and Revenge: Two Actors Explore Euripides'
The Bacchae

TSF Graphic.jpg

As part of the Santa Fe Summer Shakespeare festival, Ironweed Productions journeys to the roots of Western Drama and into the haunting, darkly comic, and provocative world of Euripides' masterful Greek tragedy, The Bacchae.

Artistic Director Scott Harrison and Dmetrius Conley-Williams explore the razor's edge struggle for power and vengeance between Pentheus, king of Thebes, and the Greek god Dionysus in a staged reading of a series of electrifying scenes from the play.

Audiences will remember Dmetrius Conley-Williams from his moving portrayal of Chutes&Ladders in our 2019 production of Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegría Hudes. Scott Harrison recently appeared in Ironweed's Back to the Studio: An Evening of Scenes from the Plays of Rebecca Gilman. The Bacchae is translated by William Arrowsmith.

Power and Revenge: Two Actors Explore Euripides' The Bacchae runs one weekend only, Friday August 26th & Saturday August 27th, at 7:30pm.

Admission is free with a $10 suggested donation at the door.
